About The Position
The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned commodities to support manufacturing, engineering, and business operations. This role ensures cost-effective procurement, supplier performance, and risk mitigation while aligning with corporate goals and compliance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and sourcing tools.
- Knowledge of global supply chain dynamics and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, on occasion.
Nice To Haves
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPM, APICS) are a plus
- Ability to read and understand blueprints/technical drawings and specifications desired
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage conflict.
- High attention to detail and urgency in resolving supply issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in ambiguous situations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commodity strategies using total cost of ownership principles.
- Lead RFx processes, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
- Monitor market trends and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers in alignment with corporate procurement policies.
- Monitor supplier performance, quality, and delivery metrics.
- Facilitate supplier risk assessments including cybersecurity and financial health.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and finance to align procurement with product development and production needs.
- Support new product introductions and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and contract metadata in ERP and sourcing platforms.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.
- Lead initiatives to standardize and streamline procurement workflows.
