Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2 + years of purchasing experience, preferably in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Robust organizational abilities including time management, problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to leverage data and analytics to forecast future requirements and inform decision making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase raw materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with material buying needs at the optimum cost/quality relationship.
  • Issue RFQs for quotes, services and materials.
  • Negotiate price and delivery terms.
  • Source and screen new suppliers.
  • Maintain inventory levels (value and turns), reviewing demand patterns and making appropriate adjustments and recommendations for stocking levels.
  • Coordinate legal contracts with suppliers, such as blanket orders or new supplier set up, following company guidelines.
