About The Position

The Butcher Block Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the meat service counter (Butcher Block), ensuring high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and adherence to food safety standards. This role leads and supports the team in delivering fresh, custom-cut meat products while driving sales and maintaining an engaging customer experience.

Requirements

  • Previous meat department or butcher experience preferred
  • Knowledge of meat cuts, food safety, and handling procedures
  • Strong leadership, customer service, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily Butcher Block operations including service, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising
  • Ensure product availability, freshness, and proper rotation at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready service counter
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to support sales demand
  • Provide outstanding, personalized customer service including custom cuts and product recommendations
  • Promote items through suggestive selling, sampling, and product knowledge
  • Build customer relationships and ensure a premium shopping experience
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Train, coach, and support meat clerks and cutters assigned to the service case
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure productivity standards are met
  • Reinforce company policies, safety practices, and service expectations
  • Support hiring and onboarding efforts as needed
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Monitor temperature logs, product handling procedures, and equipment cleanliness
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Execute attractive and well-stocked service case displays
  • Ensure proper labeling, pricing accuracy, and rotation practices
  • Support promotional activity and seasonal merchandising plans
  • Assist Meat Manager with shrink control, inventory management, and departmental goals
  • Monitor waste and implement practices to reduce loss
  • Support backroom organization, cutting room standards, and workflow efficiency
