About The Position

The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat service counter (Butcher Block), ensuring high-quality product preparation, food safety compliance, and exceptional customer service. This role leads associates in executing cutting, packaging, and merchandising standards while driving sales and maintaining operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of meat cutting or butcher experience preferred
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of meat cuts, food safety, and preparation techniques
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily butcher block operations including cutting, trimming, packaging, and display of meat products
  • Ensure all products meet company standards for quality, freshness, and presentation
  • Maintain proper use and care of cutting equipment, grinders, slicers, and tools
  • Support inventory management including ordering, receiving, and storage
  • Provide expert-level service, including custom cuts and product recommendations
  • Engage with customers to build relationships and enhance their shopping experience
  • Resolve customer concerns and special requests promptly and professionally
  • Promote value-added items, specials, and seasonal offerings
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain proper temperature controls, labeling, and rotation (FIFO) standards
  • Enforce cleaning and sanitation schedules for all equipment and work areas
  • Comply with all company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor inventory levels to maintain in-stock conditions while minimizing waste
  • Manage shrink through proper cutting practices, rotation, and storage
  • Track and reduce spoilage, damage, and outdated product
  • Assist with inventory counts and audits
  • Supervise and support butcher block/meat associates
  • Train and coach team members on cutting techniques, safety, and service standards
  • Assign tasks and ensure productivity and efficiency goals are met
  • Foster a positive, knowledgeable, and team-oriented work environment
  • Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing service cases and displays
  • Ensure proper signage, pricing, and labeling accuracy
  • Execute promotional displays and cross-merchandising opportunities
  • Uphold department presentation standards at all times
