About The Position

Link Restaurant Group, founded in January 2009 by James Beard Award winning executive Chef Donald Link, aims to support the continuous growth of its family of restaurants in New Orleans. The team is passionate about southern food, committed to utilizing quality, local ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, and focuses on simple, attentive service. As a Butcher Assistant, you will be responsible for executing deli case items and recipes as set forth by the Chef Owner, operating your station in accordance with Link Restaurant Group's standards, and maintaining BOH cleanliness and organization.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant experience required
  • Willingness to work mornings, evenings and weekends as required
  • Strong communication and effective customer service skills
  • Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree or college degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the standard of "excellent quality", set forth by the Head Butcher
  • Assist the Chef De Cuisine and Head Butcher in providing "excellent quality" and "presentation" of all food to the guests
  • Assist FOH managers on how to remedy complaints by customers in a polite, friendly manner
  • Effectively execute assigned daily cleaning and maintenance work daily, including sweeping and mopping floors, walk in organization, and trash removal
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen facilities
  • Handle large volume production and fast-paced service without issue
  • Work directly with the Head Butcher and other supervisors to oversee food quality control by constantly tasting product, ensuring that it is in accordance with our standards
  • Be able to effectively follow directions and recipes that are set forth by the Head Butcher
  • Work the necessary hours to help ensure the success of the restaurant
  • Be required to work both opening and closing shifts
  • Receive all products to ensure quality and accuracy to the order
  • Be able to operate, clean, maintain, and have a knowledge of all Butcher equipment (grinder, mixer, sausage press, cryovac machine, band saw, etc) that is used daily
  • Resolve complaints from customers in a polite, friendly manner always making sure we follow up with them when needed
  • Help with duties of other employees (i.e. sous chef, cooks, and dishwashers, etc.) when necessary because of an unexpected absence or extra volume
  • Have a strong understanding of company background and the philosophy
