About The Position

This position is at a luxury hotel on Kauai, Hawaii, situated on Poipu Beach. The role involves maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of the front-of-house operations, assisting with back-of-house tasks as needed, and supporting servers and other team members to ensure guests have a memorable experience. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.
  • Good mathematical and computer skills.
  • Ability to actively listen to others.
  • Ability to lift and pull a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to tolerate moderate amounts of walking.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the front of the house operations including floors, windows, service counters, serving trays, storage areas, buffet stations, water station, bread station, and coffee station.
  • Assist with back of the house operations as needed.
  • Set up the restaurant for service, including polishing silverware and glassware, folding napkins, moving tables, and setting up each table with placemats, silverware, glassware, and napkins.
  • Remove refuse or linens to designated areas.
  • Collect all menus and return them to the host stand or designated areas.
  • Sweep or mop when necessary.
  • Wipe down highchairs and booster seats.
  • Clear, clean, and reset tables in dining areas between seatings and transport soiled service-ware to the kitchen.
  • Scrape food from dirty dishes and return them to their proper storage place.
  • Clean equipment, restaurant fixtures, chairs, and tables using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards.
  • Assist guests with specific requests and communicate special needs to server/supervisor.
  • Assist restaurant staff, including servers, bartenders, and other team members, with guest service.
  • Transfer product between work areas as needed.
  • Assist in stocking, dating, and/or rotation of food items within the restaurant.
  • Break down the restaurant and set up for morning service, including collecting candle votives, wiping down tables, moving tables back to the original floor plan, and setting up tables with placemats and napkins.
