About The Position

The Busser is responsible for helping to ensure guests receive excellent guest service by delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables quickly and accurately, cleaning and resetting tables after guests leave the restaurant, ensuring the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates and glasses, supporting servers’ table service as directed by the servers and MOD, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and server stations. This role also includes Expediter/Food Runner responsibilities such as ensuring all plates are prepared and garnished correctly before delivering to tables, ensuring guests have everything they need on the table, and working with servers and BOH to quickly correct any guest concerns regarding food orders, quality, and presentation. The Busser will also keep the expo station clean, organized and well stocked, ensure all utensils are polished and well stocked, and assist all servers, bartenders, and managers with carrying of plates. Additionally, they will communicate food orders to BOH employees, paying attention to priority tickets, allergies, and special requests.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS system
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkers
  • Proficient verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction
  • Must have strong knowledge of food menus
  • Must have the ability to carry multiple plates at one time sometimes using a large tray and tray jack
  • Knowledge of proper food handling requirements
  • Knowledge of bar and kitchen items
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venue
  • Must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar
  • Must be at least 16 years old to meet minimum age requirement of the State of Tennessee to work evening hours.
  • Employees younger than 18 are not allowed to serve alcohol and can only work three hours per day and until 10 PM on school nights, which are generally Sunday through Thursday.
  • Employees under the age of 18 are not allowed behind the bar.

Responsibilities

  • Work with servers and BOH to quickly correct any guest concerns regarding food orders, quality, and presentation
  • Keep expo station clean, organized and well stocked
  • Ensure all utensils are polished and well stocked
  • Assist all servers, bartenders, and managers with carrying of plates
  • Communicate food orders to BOH employees, paying attention to priority tickets, allergies, and special requests
  • Remove dirty utensils and replenish, as needed
  • Keep service stations clean
  • Take out trash
  • Bring bus tubs back to the kitchen when they are full
  • Move tables, chairs, and furniture to accommodate guests as needed
