About The Position

The Business Valuation Associate/Sr. Associate is responsible for executing and delivering challenging valuation engagements by participating in projects from initial proposal preparation through project completion. Business Valuation is a rapidly growing division within LCG Advisors which was created to respond to the unprecedented need for business valuation services in the market. The demand for business valuation trained professionals is exploding and will continue to grow exponentially over the next 10-20 years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance, required
  • CVA or ABV certified, required
  • Two or more years of private company valuation experience, required
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and related schedules, required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word, required
  • Understanding of economics, financial theory and/or principles of accounting, required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior analytical and research skills
  • Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully "multi-task" while working independently or within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Masters, preferred
  • ASC 718 and/or ASC 805 experience, preferred
  • Prior experience with BVR or related valuation databases, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform industry research including comparable publicly-traded companies and similar transactions, analyze competitive industry dynamics and assess financial conditions of peer companies.
  • Perform financial statement and benchmarking analysis and prepare and interpret the financial valuation models.
  • Create valuation reports for clients (financial institutions, attorneys, private business, accounting firms).
  • Serve as the key point of contact for clients over the course of the business valuation engagement (manage receipt of financial documents, respond to questions as necessary, deliver finalized valuation report).
  • Participate in business development activities as interested (conferences, networking events).
  • Work on projects with division Director as needed.
  • Conduct and perform forensic financial analyses, build models, maintain documents, assist in report writing, and perform quality control procedures on schedules and reports.
  • Discuss and outline problems/issues with a manager or Managing Director and then act on the preferred advice.
  • Analyze data and financial/non-financial information and apply a forensic approach to the work.
  • Develop reports for entity valuation, purchase price allocation, tax planning, succession planning, etc.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports which can be understood by non-accountants such as clients, attorneys, and the Court.
  • Be flexible and responsive to client needs, particularly available for meetings at times and places stipulated by the client. This can involve working long days and tight deadlines.
