Kelso Industries, a leader in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical solutions, is seeking a Business Unit Leader for its New Construction Mission Critical Projects in the Midwest Region. This role involves providing executive oversight for a portfolio of large, complex, and high-profile projects, ensuring consistent execution and performance. The Business Unit Leader will support Project Executives throughout all project phases, from pursuit to closeout and warranty. Key responsibilities include establishing execution strategies, staffing plans, constructability reviews, and logistics plans. The role also entails leading executive-level project reviews, maintaining full P&L responsibility, overseeing forecasting, margin performance, contingency management, change strategy, and cash flow. Additionally, the Business Unit Leader will guide Project Executives in recovery planning when projects fall below expectations, and ensure adherence to company policies and operating standards. This position is crucial for setting expectations for performance, accountability, and leadership behaviors, while also supporting succession planning and talent development. The role requires ensuring effective utilization of Project Controls functions such as Scheduling, BIM/VDC, Procurement, Document Control, Cost Controls, and Warranty Support, and reinforcing accountability and integration between Project Executives and Project Controls. Collaboration with Construction Resource Management for staffing plans, and coordination of deployment, mobilization, and recruiting priorities across the portfolio are also key. The Business Unit Leader will champion the company's safety culture, ensure consistent application of safety programs and quality standards, and partner with Safety and Quality leadership to monitor trends and mitigate risk. Serving as a senior escalation point for key customers and supporting Project Executives in managing client relationships and resolving issues are vital. The role also involves strengthening long-term partnerships, driving repeat business, overseeing subcontracting strategies, and leading portfolio-level risk identification and mitigation efforts. Reviewing major change events, Notices of Delay, and claims strategies, and ensuring contractual, financial, and schedule risks are actively managed are also part of the responsibilities. The Business Unit Leader will model and reinforce company core values: Safety, Quality, Relationships, Innovation, and Accountability, and set the leadership tone across project teams and markets.
