About The Position

As part of the Business Technology group, this role assists in driving technology strategies for a product area or individual products within an Organization Unit for IEEE. The position collaborates with the Director or Senior Manager, Business Technology, to enable product strategy through the implementation of technology. Working within the IEEE Product Operating Model, the role identifies dependencies and risks to delivery and assists product owners in mitigating them. It also aids in the development and review of product roadmaps for value-added features and functionality within assigned areas, and assists in the preparation of Product Operating Model artifacts such as Program Increment Planning and Quarterly Impact/Business Review to ensure technology programs are aligned with and deliver on product strategies.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Management, or Business
4-7 years relevant work experience
Direct experience with Agile/scrum activities, project or program management
Proven experience implementing technology strategy with business cases aligned to strategic objectives
Strong customer relationship skills
Experience in program management and governance in a product model environment
Comfort engaging and consulting with and presenting to business product leadership
Ability to work cross-team and promote a culture of joint problem-solving
Strong communications and collaboration skills with the ability to express technical concepts in business terms
Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with all IT functions

Nice To Haves

Management consulting experience
2-4 years Product development experience
Experience with agile development ceremonies and artifacts, including proficiency with JIRA, is desirable

Responsibilities

Help implement the systems strategy for assigned product(s), aligned to business objectives and encompassing traditional and emerging technologies
Help identify and sequence the programs/projects that deliver the strategy in conjunction with Product Owners
Craft a compelling story that aligns key stakeholders to the product strategy, guides product activities, and calls people to action
Cultivate, maintain, and grow relationships with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, departmental staff and IEEE IT staff
Analyze customer business needs (expressed and latent) and translate them into technology strategies and projects in line with overall product area strategies and objectives
Work closely and collaborate with IT platform and service teams, and with the other Business Technology colleagues
Represent assigned OU/Functional Areas in IT forums and champion necessary feature requests with IT shared services
Provide strategic technology advisory services to the assigned product teams
Sell-in existing products and services as a first line to enable business strategies and objectives, where applicable
As necessary, support the Agile/Scrum program management approach for product technology projects, ensuring cohesion between the various scrum teams
Engage with IEEE IT development resources/partners and other IEEE IT to mitigate risks and roadblocks to the delivery of new capabilities and tooling
Manage the prioritization and governance process for technology programs and projects
Produce artifacts, including business cases and feature roadmaps, to ensure strategic alignment of an agreed-upon book of work
Promote transparency between the various product groups within and across OU/functional areas
Provide clear and consistent communications across technology and the OUs as relates to program/product governance
Remain up-to-date on relevant news, best practices and trends within the functional area and technology landscape and share this knowledge
