About The Position

As part of our Americas Tax Technology Group (ATTG), you will be part of a technology organization that develops and maintains innovative solutions for Ernst & Young client-serving Tax professionals. ATTG professionals will partner with our Tax professionals to develop innovative AI-centric technology to drive revenue through Tax services, improve internal operational efficiency, and generate client success. The Business Technology Leader role is in the Technology Enablement pillar. The main function of this pillar is to serve as the primary interface between the tax business leadership and IT.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree (computer science, engineering, accounting, finance preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience with substantial management experience.
  • Approved technical certification is required.
  • Provides guidance and thought leadership to leadership.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and weigh different options, balancing business, cost and technology priorities to determine the best solution.
  • Applies strong strategic skills to develop long-term vision and translate it into actionable roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the strategic direction, definition, and business value of the technology tools used by the U.S. tax practice in a particular sub-service line (SSL) to enable the firm’s professionals to efficiently and effectively provide the services that generate revenue and build relationships with clients.
  • Development of an integrated business plan to ensure its customers derive optimal value out of their portfolio of existing applications and new investments in line with strategic direction.
  • Interacts closely with sub-service line leaders, Americas Tax Technology Group (ATTG) colleagues, EY Global IT, and front-line Tax professionals to understand the competing needs of the practice; balance priorities; set expectations at all levels of the practice; and achieve the agreed-upon results.
  • Assist the practice in market pursuits via participation in the sales process, by presenting our technology capabilities to prospects and clients during proposal opportunities.
  • Participate in the governance of technology solutions to ensure business value is achieved. Define the business objectives and benefits of technology in a way that is quantitative and measurable.
  • Collaborate with the business on addressing challenges that could be addressed through technology, developing creative solutions that are aligned with firm standards around technology and IT security, with a particular focus on AI-centric solutions.
  • Provide high level direction to team on service line’s overall strategic needs; provide guidance and direction as needed.
  • Responsible for the development of a business-driven application strategy and epic roadmap.
  • Maintain an awareness of emerging technologies and integrate these into technology discussions and decision-making.
  • Influence and contribute to build vs buy decisions when formulating solutions to new challenges.
  • Balance competing priorities and scarce resources among projects occurring simultaneously.
  • Monitor the overall portfolio budget, manage the scope of projects for the portfolio, and report all portfolio budget variances in a timely manner.
  • Focus on cost/benefit analysis to provide guidance to service line leadership and tool executive sponsors on the most appropriate ways to handle tool operational issues.
  • Develop knowledge of policy restrictions on use of technology. These are driven by Global Information Security, Quality & Risk Management, and General Counsel’s Office.
  • Direct the teaming with all facets of ATTG, Tax, and Global IT who perform the technical aspects of a technology project to ensure work is handed-off and with minimum of surprises.
  • Act as escalation point with reporting obligations to leadership.
