About The Position

At Open Farm, we are transforming the way people feed their pets with a focus on producing premium, healthy food and treats, all ethically sourced from farm-to-bowl. Headquartered in Toronto and with team members across the US, Open Farm is one of the fastest growing CPG companies in North America. We believe that the best foods are made with consciously sourced, top-quality ingredients from farmers and fisheries who believe in doing good for all animals and the environment. Open Farm runs a complex, high-volume supply chain spanning co-manufacturers, 3PL partners, wholesale, and direct-to-consumer channels across Canada and the US. Our systems ecosystem is growing fast -- and right now, too much of it runs on manual processes, CSV uploads, Excel models, and tribal knowledge. That is the problem you would be solving. We are looking for a Business Systems Engineer who wants to dig into a genuinely complex ERP and integration environment, build things that matter, and leave our operations meaningfully more automated, reliable, and scalable than they found them. This is a full-time internal role reporting directly to the IT Director. You will sit at the intersection of NetSuite development, API-based integrations, data platform connectivity, and our growing automation and AI initiatives -- with real influence over how we build and evolve our systems as the business scales.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on NetSuite development experience with SuiteScript 2.0/2.1
  • Strong experience with REST and SOAP API development and end-to-end systems integration
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain integrations across ERP and external platforms
  • Experience with data transformation, pipeline development, and cross-platform data connectivity
  • Deep understanding of supply chain, inventory, and order management workflows
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver without heavy oversight

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite Analytics Warehouse (NSAW) and/or Snowflake
  • Demonstrated experience connecting or aggregating data across multiple platforms or data warehouses
  • Familiarity with EDI systems (e.g., TrueCommerce) and WMS integrations
  • Experience integrating with Shopify or similar ecommerce platforms
  • Exposure to AI and LLM API integration in a business systems context
  • Background in Python, Java, or similar scripting languages beyond SuiteScript
  • Experience with Amazon Seller Central or FBA workflow automation
  • Prior experience in consumer goods, food and beverage, or supply chain-intensive industries

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain SuiteScript customizations (2.0/2.1) including Map/Reduce, RESTlets, User Event, and Scheduled scripts
  • Build and maintain workflows, saved searches, custom records, and forms across the NetSuite platform
  • Automate transaction creation including Purchase Orders, Transfer Orders, Item Receipts, Sales Orders, and billing flows
  • Support inventory logic, landed cost calculations, BOM management, and manufacturing workflows
  • Troubleshoot data mismatches and reconciliation issues to establish NetSuite as a trusted source of truth across the business
  • Build and maintain API-based integrations between NetSuite and external systems including WMS platforms, EDI, Amazon, TMS, and Shopify
  • Replace FTP and CSV-based data pipelines with direct system-to-system integrations where feasible
  • Manage and extend integrations built on NSIP (NetSuite Integration Platform) and Shopify connectors
  • Work across REST and SOAP APIs to connect internal and third-party platforms reliably and scalably
  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of AI tooling integrated into business workflows, including API-level integration of AI services where they can reduce manual effort and improve decision-making
  • Support the design and execution of a cross-platform data strategy, connecting siloed data sources across departments into a more unified and accessible structure
  • Work with Business Systems and eCommerce teams to establish connectivity between NSIP/NSAW (Business Systems) and Snowflake (eCommerce), working toward a single source of truth or reliable bi-directional data flow
  • Support and extend data flows into NetSuite Analytics Warehouse (NSAW) and Snowflake
  • Build and maintain data models, datasets, saved searches, and reporting layers that serve Ops, Finance, and eCommerce stakeholders with consistent, reliable data
  • Identify and reduce data duplication across platforms by improving data reliability and consistency at the source
  • Reduce dependence on parallel Excel-based tracking systems by replacing them with integrated, system-driven data flows
  • Support the long-term goal of aggregating Open Farm's data across platforms and departments to enable better visibility and decision-making
  • Identify and eliminate manual workflows across CSV imports, Excel transformations, and email-based coordination
  • Standardize processes across co-manufacturers, warehouse partners, and sales channels
  • Build error handling, validation logic, and reconciliation tools that reduce manual intervention and allow the business to scale without adding headcount
