Department Summary: Are you passionate about improving business processes and helping government sponsors solve complex enterprise challenges in innovative ways? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment and want your work to serve the public good? The MITRE Organizational and Operational Performance department may be the right place for you. The Organizational and Operational Performance department in MITRE’s Modeling and Analysis division are subject matter experts in process engineering, business architecture and innovation, data analysis, and enterprise transformation. We apply process engineering best practices, proven processes, frameworks, and other methodologies to address our sponsors most critical mission challenges. Our work extends beyond process improvement alone. We integrate with complementary capabilities such as strategy, performance management, organizational change, social and behavioral science, and other engineering disciplines to drive meaningful and lasting enterprise transformation.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in local, state, or federal government client-facing advisory role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology Management, Business, or other related disciplines.
  • Documented success with process modeling, business architecture modeling, design thinking, journey mapping, stakeholder interviews, process improvement or other core process engineering related capabilities.
  • Experience in project-based work.
  • Experience with KPI development.
  • Experience creating business process models in MS Visio.
  • Facilitating small teams.
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US Government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in Engineering Management, Technology Management, Management Sciences, Business Innovation, Business Administration, Engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Certified Business Analysis Professional, and/or other process related credentials.
  • Experience with intelligent automation software, operational improvements, benefits delivery, and fraud reduction.
  • Experience as a thought leader regarding business process innovation or enterprise transformation, such as speaking at conferences, publishing in professional journals, leadership position in professional organization, conducting research, and/or teaching.
  • Experience engaging with and delivering work products to senior executives.
  • Experience working with MSOSA.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate or support projects that improve business processes, streamline operations, increase capacity, and align work with mission goals.
  • Help sponsors build new capabilities, assess how their organizations operate, and recommend whether they need targeted improvements or broader enterprise transformation.
  • Work with related teams in strategy, performance management, organizational change, social and behavioral science and workforce planning to make improvements effective and sustainable.
  • Advise government sponsors on common barriers to innovation, such as organizational complexity, legacy systems, workforce adoption, risk concerns, and governance constraints, and help develop practical solutions.
  • Use AI/ LLM to strengthen analysis, improve the quality and speed of deliverables, and identify opportunities for innovation and better outcomes.
  • Contribute to division and department initiatives that expand MITRE’s process improvement impact across the enterprise and with sponsors.
