Business Systems Architect

PDQSouth Salt Lake, UT

About The Position

As Business Systems Architect at PDQ, you will own the design, evolution, and execution of our end‑to-end business systems architecture. This role sits at the intersection of Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Data, and Finance, and is responsible for ensuring our systems scale reliably as the company grows. This is a hands-on architect role, not a purely strategic or principal-level position. You will design how systems work together, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and partner closely with internal teams to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions. While CRM (Salesforce) is a core part of the ecosystem, success in this role requires thinking beyond any single tool and owning how the full business systems stack fits together. Role Impact: This role is critical to ensuring PDQ’s systems don’t just work today, but continue to work as the company scales. You will help prevent system sprawl, reduce operational friction, and ensure our tools enable, rather than slow down, the business. If you enjoy designing real-world systems, partnering closely with stakeholders, and building foundations that last, this role offers meaningful ownership and impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with business systems in a SaaS environment
  • Hands-on experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), including integrations and customization
  • Experience designing and supporting systems across sales, marketing, customer success, and billing
  • Exposure to both product-led and sales-led growth models
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to see how tools, data, and processes fit together
  • Practical experience designing integrations and data flows between systems
  • Solid understanding of data organization, reporting, and dashboard best practices
  • Ability to balance short-term business needs with long-term architectural health
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and business audiences
  • Ownership mindset: you take responsibility for outcomes, not just recommendations
  • Collaborative: you work effectively across teams and functions
  • Pragmatic: you design solutions that are scalable but realistic for the company’s stage
  • Continuous improvement: you actively look for ways to simplify, standardize, and improve systems over time

Responsibilities

  • Own Business Systems Architecture
  • Design and maintain PDQ’s overall business systems architecture across CRM, billing (quote-to-cash), marketing automation, customer success, data, and adjacent platforms.
  • Define clear system boundaries, sources of truth, and integration patterns to ensure consistency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Make architectural tradeoffs that balance speed of delivery, long-term maintainability, and business impact.
  • CRM, GTM, and Lifecycle Systems Ownership
  • Own Salesforce as a core platform while ensuring it integrates cleanly with marketing automation, billing, product, and data systems.
  • Ensure the CRM supports product-led growth (PLG), sales-assisted, and channel motions across multiple product lines.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success leaders to align systems with real-world workflows and adoption.
  • Integration & Data Design
  • Design and govern integrations between systems, including APIs, middleware/iPaaS, and data synchronization approaches.
  • Establish best practices for data flow, data quality, error handling, and monitoring across systems.
  • Partner with Data and Engineering to ensure operational and analytical data needs are met without duplicating logic or creating fragile dependencies.
  • Billing & Revenue Systems Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product, Finance, RevOps, and Engineering on quote-to-cash workflows, including quoting, subscription management, billing, renewals, and lifecycle changes.
  • Ensure billing and revenue-related systems integrate cleanly with CRM and downstream reporting.
  • Help evolve systems to support new pricing models, packaging/bundling, and growth strategies.
  • Enable Scale & Change
  • Create integration and systems playbooks for new products, acquisitions, or process changes.
  • Identify system gaps, technical debt, and process inefficiencies, and drive prioritized improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert translating business requirements into scalable system designs.
  • Communication & Alignment
  • Clearly communicate architecture decisions, tradeoffs, and roadmaps to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on system initiatives, risks, and outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted partner who can both influence and push back when needed to protect system integrity.
