About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst supports the implementation, administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of technology systems and business processes that support student success, academic advising, career development, and professional experiences across the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation (MLFC). Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Operations within the Office of Academic and Career Success, this position serves as a bridge between functional business units and technical solutions. The Business Systems Analyst works closely with college leaders, faculty, staff, university partners, and technology teams to identify business needs, improve processes, maintain system functionality, develop reporting solutions, and support technology implementation efforts. While organizationally housed within the Office of Academic and Career Success, this position supports college-wide initiatives and systems that extend beyond department functions, serving as a shared resource for MLFC operational, academic, and student support processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally with a wide variety of university constituents, including students, staff, faculty, and college/university administrators.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis and process improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of higher education administrative operations and student support services.
  • Knowledge of CRM, case management, placement, and workflow systems.
  • Ability to translate business needs into functional requirements and technical solutions.
  • Ability to analyze complex operational challenges and recommend practical solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education or related fields, particularly in areas of administrative operations, enrollment management, recruitment, advising, and/or student success a plus.
  • Experience developing data queries, reporting tools, dashboards, and other data visualization using a variety of tools (Python, Tableau, SQL, Airtable, or others) to support decision making at all levels.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, including coordinating multiple, simultaneous projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in team-based environments, and the ability to apply the principles, techniques and methods of teamwork, compromise and collaboration to produce desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the administration, configuration, testing, and continuous improvement of systems including Airtable, Salesforce, Sonia (or successor placement systems), and other student support technologies.
  • Maintains system documentation, business rules, workflows, and operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoots system issues and collaborates with technical teams to resolve problems.
  • Assists with user access management, permissions, testing, and quality assurance activities.
  • Supports implementation of new technologies, enhancements, and system integrations.
  • Documents current-state and future-state business processes.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and enhance the student and employee experience.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Assists with development and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluates operational workflows and recommends solutions that align with college priorities and strategic goals.
  • Develops and maintains reports, dashboards, and operational metrics.
  • Supports data collection, validation, and analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Assists leaders in identifying trends, monitoring outcomes, and evaluating system effectiveness.
  • Creates reporting solutions that support enrollment, persistence, graduation, advising, career, and placement initiatives.
  • Assists with planning, coordination, testing, and implementation of technology-related projects.
  • Coordinates communication between functional users and technical teams.
  • Tracks project tasks, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Supports user training, documentation, and adoption efforts for new systems and processes.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Office of Academic and Career Success, MLFC departments, university partners, and technology teams.
  • Facilitates meetings, gathers feedback, and communicates system updates and process changes.
  • Supports cross-functional initiatives requiring coordination across multiple units.
