This position supports the Florida Department of Transportation by modernizing and maintaining the technology systems that manage and report on the Department’s financial and work program data. By assisting in the enhancement, testing, and support of financial management applications and reporting tools, the position helps ensure accurate, reliable, and timely information is available to FDOT leadership and staff statewide. Through close coordination with the Office of Information Technology and direct support to system users, the role strengthens FDOT’s ability to plan, monitor, and manage transportation investments efficiently, while advancing the Department’s transition from legacy systems to modern, sustainable technology solutions.

  • Coordinates, designs, and develops information technology tools used in modernizing and supporting the Financial Management system and legacy reporting environments.
  • Assists with initiatives in the modernization of applications and reports by reviewing and transforming legacy code to a modern framework.
  • Coordinates with the Office of Information Technology to ensure changes are made according to specifications through system testing and through review of test results.
  • Participate in the definition and prioritization of application and reporting changes by working with management, staff, users, and the Office Information Technology to define necessary enhancements.
  • Assist senior developers with technical support for the Office of Work Program and Budget application and reporting environment.
  • Assure system users, both locally and statewide, are given necessary support in the use of the applications and reports as they relate to Work Program Development and monitoring.
  • Assist system users with various information needs by working one-on-one to provide application and reporting products.
  • Assist senior programmers in modernizing, supporting, and testing the Financial Management system and legacy reporting environments.
  • Develops expertise in business process knowledge specific to critical core application and reporting environment.
  • Assists in the Office of Work Program and Budget internet and SharePoint support.
  • Knowledge of web-related software and basic internet/intranet concepts
  • Knowledge of relational database theories, concepts, and access methods
  • Skill in object-oriented programming
  • Skill in the development of modern object-oriented architecture web programming
  • Skill in the use of Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Ability to use mainframe computer systems and supporting software
  • Ability to test and debug complex computer programs
  • Ability to interpret and communicate computer programs and information technology concepts, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prepare computer program test plans and create test data scenarios
  • Ability to learn Azure DevOps
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to work effectively with users to identify and document requirements of computer systems
  • Ability to accomplish assigned work products independently with moderate supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Four years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming. Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
