The Business Strategy Principal serves as a highly visible strategic advisor responsible for shaping enterprise-wide business decisions through data-driven analysis, financial stewardship, and executive-level influence. This role partners directly with senior leaders to evaluate strategic priorities, assess market opportunities, and develop actionable recommendations that drive business performance, investment efficiency, and long-term growth. A primary focus of this position is supporting FedEx's enterprise AI transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in scaling AI-enabled business capabilities by managing demand, driving financial planning and investment governance, evaluating vendor partnerships, and ensuring analytical rigor in decision-making processes. This includes ownership of budgeting, workforce planning, contract strategy, and value realization tracking across initiatives. This individual will serve as an internal consultant, helping leaders navigate complex business challenges, optimize resource allocation, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer value, and financial performance through disciplined, quantitative insights. The Business Strategy Principal will operate in a fast-paced environment characterized by ambiguity, cross-functional collaboration, and high-impact strategic initiatives that require both strategic vision and operational execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Strategy, Analytics, Engineering, or related field
  • Seven (7) years related work experience. Work experience in functions focused on strategy development, competitive, customer, and industry analysis, market research, analysis of product performance, and support of corporate development/strategic value assessment activities.
  • Significant experience in strategy, management consulting, business analytics, corporate strategy, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level strategic initiatives with measurable financial and operational impact
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and business case development for large-scale initiatives
  • Experience presenting complex analyses and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize large datasets into actionable insights
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic recommendations informed by market trends, customer behavior, competitive intelligence, and business performance metrics
  • Lead complex business analyses, financial modeling, scenario planning, and business case development
  • Build strategic frameworks that support executive decision-making and long-term planning
  • Translate complex quantitative and qualitative data into clear, actionable business insights
  • Own financial planning and budget management across strategic initiatives, including AI transformation investments
  • Drive ROI analysis, value tracking, and performance measurement to ensure investments deliver expected outcomes
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to support data-driven decision-making
  • Lead scenario modeling and investment tradeoff analysis to inform prioritization decisions
  • Ensure financial governance, transparency, and alignment with enterprise objectives
  • Evaluate demand pipelines and prioritize strategic opportunities across the organization
  • Drive workforce planning, including hiring strategy, capacity modeling, and resource allocation
  • Align resource plans with strategic priorities and financial constraints
  • Assess, select, and manage relationships with external consulting firms, vendors, and strategic partners
  • Lead contract evaluation, negotiation inputs, and cost optimization efforts
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with business outcomes and financial expectations
  • Drive strategic initiatives related to AI adoption, technology investments, and business transformation
  • Support scaling of AI capabilities through disciplined investment planning and performance tracking

  • Present clear, concise, and compelling insights to senior executives and cross-functional leadership teams
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on commercial, operational, customer, and technology initiatives
