About The Position

Overview: Provides leadership in the design, development, and communication of long-term strategies in pursuit of business goals. Works closely with senior business and functional leaders from across the enterprise; convenes and leads teams to accomplish goals. Leads others; may directly manage staff; influences across teams. Primary Responsibilities: Lead effort to define scope/approach for Dept. initiatives. Direct and monitor resources. May be responsible on an individual basis for directing complex, critical, and highly visible projects for division. Provide analytical expertise to support dept/divisional initiatives that may include planning, design and analysis of results, presenting content at various governance functions, development of comprehensive content/materials, analysis of complex data sets, or analysis/optimization of data structures. Consider stakeholder perspectives, address objections, help develop solutions, and drive action. Interaction with senior management (internal/external) to obtain pertinent information. Responsible for directly or indirectly managing staff. May exercise usual authority of manager concerning staffing, performance management, promotions, salary recommendations, professional development of staff, and terminations. Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 9 years relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years higher education and/or work experience
  • Strong attention to detail; strong ability to lead teams; excellent project management skills
  • Strong analytical ability and creative problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships within and outside the organization; Strong written, and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate professionally at many different levels
  • Self-motivated, results driven, and well organized; ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time constraints in support of various assignments
  • Proficient with personal computers and spreadsheet, database, graphing, and presentation software

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration; MBA or advanced degree
  • Experience with financial analysis, regulatory analysis, process analysis and technical writing.
  • Audit or Consulting experience.
  • Experience with long range strategic planning in a complex business; balances tactical and strategic; incorporates holistic perspective; leads research; understands customer needs; shapes strategy; curious and innovative
