About The Position

Brown Federal Services is seeking a Business Specialist to support our home office operations in Waverly, Ohio. This role is critical to the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the company, including employee onboarding, invoicing, and payroll support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in administrative, operations, payroll, or similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general office software
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to take ownership of tasks, meet deadlines, and follow through in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (business, accounting, or related field)
  • Basic understanding of payroll compliance and invoicing procedures
  • Experience with union payroll and/or prevailing wage (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage employee onboarding for federal project assignments
  • Liaison with project teams across multiple sites to support onboarding, daily operations, and invoicing processes
  • Prepare and submit client invoices accurately and on schedule
  • Support payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and contract-specific requirements
  • Maintain accurate employee and project records
  • Communicate with employees, clients, and internal team members
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation as needed
