Business Recruiter

About The Position

You'll own full-cycle recruiting for Northslope's business (non-tech) and sales functions — the people who bring our AI capabilities to market, grow our customer relationships, and keep the business running at scale. These aren't your typical commercial hires. Our go-to-market and operations teams need to understand complex technical concepts, communicate them compellingly to enterprise customers, and operate with the same hunger and adaptability as our engineering teams. As we scale rapidly, you'll be responsible for hiring across functions including sales, marketing, operations, finance, and people, working as an individual contributor on an existing recruiting team with real ownership from day one. You'll work in a hybrid model with the autonomy to structure your time in whatever way makes you most effective.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience across commercial, sales, or business functions, with a strong preference for candidates who've been part of a startup's journey from early stage to high-growth
  • Proven ability to hire in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where the playbook is still being written
  • Experience building trusted partnerships with hiring managers, where you're seen as a strategic advisor who challenges assumptions and improves outcomes, not just someone who sources resumes
  • A track record of creative sourcing — you know how to find talent that others miss and aren't afraid to try unconventional approaches
  • Strong instincts for assessing candidates beyond credentials, particularly the ability to identify people who can navigate ambiguity, build relationships, and operate with genuine ownership
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using recruiting metrics to diagnose problems and drive improvements
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to articulate a compelling vision
  • Comfort recruiting across a wide range of business functions — you're energised by the variety, and understand that adaptability and mindset often matter more than years of experience in a specific role
  • Excitement about doing whatever it takes to close great candidates, whether that means creative outreach, rapid interview coordination, attending events, or hiring surges

Nice To Haves

  • Experience recruiting for quota-carrying sales roles, account management, or customer success in a B2B or enterprise environment
  • Background recruiting at a high-growth startup or company going through rapid commercial scale
  • Familiarity with Ashby (our ATS), BrightHire, or Notion
  • Experience hiring across early-career to leadership positions
  • Ability to navigate complex offer negotiation conversations

Responsibilities

  • Partnering directly with our Exec. leadership team to understand hiring needs and business priorities
  • Building and managing pipelines of exceptional commercial and operational talent who thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Crafting creative sourcing strategies that go beyond job boards. Finding candidates in non-traditional places who have the right mindset, not just the right resume
  • Owning the candidate experience from first outreach through offer acceptance and onboarding
  • Designing and refining interview processes to better assess for the qualities that make business hires successful at Northslope
  • Using data and metrics to understand what's working, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve recruiting efficiency
  • Selling candidates on our mission and helping them understand why building the commercial engine around custom AI applications is a once-in-a-career opportunity

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + equity in the form of stock options — you'll have real ownership in what we're building
  • Competitive benefits package including comprehensive health insurance
  • Flexible hybrid work environment with 1-2 days per week in our New York office
  • Significant autonomy to shape how recruiting works at Northslope as we scale
  • The opportunity to define your own career path as we grow, whether that's moving into people leadership, becoming the go-to expert for a specific geography or candidate profile, or carving out an entirely new role
  • A small, tight-knit team where your work directly impacts our ability to execute on our mission
  • Occasional travel (less than 10% of your time) for company off-sites where you'll connect with the broader team and help build our culture
