Business / Process Analyst — AI Reliability Engineering

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc,
$106,477 - $115,212Hybrid

About The Position

This role involves analyzing and designing business processes, particularly in the context of AI-native system replacement. The Business/Process Analyst will be responsible for mapping current-state processes, designing future-state processes that leverage AI capabilities, conducting gap analyses, and performing user workflow analysis. The analyst will define acceptance criteria to ensure new systems meet business needs and will work closely with engineers who will build the system. This is not an incremental improvement role but a fundamental redesign using AI. The analyst will have direct access to the people performing the work today.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience in business analysis, process engineering, or operations analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience mapping complex business processes across multiple systems and stakeholder groups, including observation and validation of actual workflows.
  • Experience with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HRM, MES, or similar), understanding their role in business operations and where they cause friction.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of productive conversations with diverse stakeholders from shop floor operators to VPs.
  • Experience translating business requirements into clear, testable acceptance criteria for engineering teams.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience capturing, analyzing, and translating business requirements, specifications, processes, and business cases.
  • Proficiency as a developer, systems integrator, systems engineer, solutions architect, or similar.
  • Proficiency in development languages, platforms, and tools.
  • Proficient knowledge of SQL queries for data transfer or business reporting.
  • Experience in system modernization or legacy replacement projects.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML capabilities (automation, intelligent routing, predictive analytics).
  • Experience in manufacturing, defense, or complex enterprise environments with process compliance requirements.
  • Experience with process modeling tools and methodologies (BPMN, value stream mapping, or similar).
  • Data literacy, including understanding database schemas, data flows, and credible conversations with data engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Current-state process mapping: Document existing business processes end-to-end, including tasks, roles, systems, handoffs, decision points, exceptions, and workarounds, focusing on the actual process rather than the documented one.
  • Future-state design: Collaborate with Domain SMEs and the engineering team to define target processes that utilize AI capabilities (automation, intelligent routing, predictive decision support) while retaining essential business rules.
  • Gap analysis: Identify changes between current and future states, including process modifications, data requirements, training needs, and compliance impacts.
  • User workflow analysis: Understand who performs each task, the systems involved, user pain points, and potential adoption barriers.
  • Acceptance criteria: Define clear, testable criteria for new systems to meet business needs and collaborate with the Product Owner to ensure the engineering team builds the required functionality.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive benefits
  • Flexible work environment where contributions are recognized and rewarded
