About The Position

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a statewide campus with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers, and in every Arkansas county. It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. The Division headquarters is located in Little Rock with the rest of the University of Arkansas System Administration. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in business management, accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least one (1) of those years in a supervisory OR financial/program management capacity.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively alone as well as with a team.
  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports to both internal and external personnel.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).
  • Ability to apply an ethical code and good judgment, and to handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be punctual and dependable.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related area from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or similar professional designation.
  • Previous experience in development of budgets.
  • Previous experience with a state-supported institution of higher education in Arkansas.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Experience with Anaplan.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements entity-level budgets, and provides support for developing operating unit and departmental budgets.
  • Plays an active role in assuring executive leaders are informed during all phases of the budget cycle and are equipped with the tools, reports, and information needed to make sound business decisions.
  • Provides a variety of related reports to support finance and executive leadership.
  • Develops significant portions of the entity-level budget as assigned.
  • Ensures the budgets developed are accurate and complete.
  • Serves as the liaison to executive leaders in all aspects of the budget development, management, and monitoring process under the direction of the Senior Director of Business Planning and Intelligence.
  • Manages specific Division State and/or Federal funds.
  • May perform specific accounting duties.
  • May lead other projects or support fiscal duties as assigned.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty.
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
