eHealth Saskatchewan is the central organization for managing healthcare IT systems across the province, connecting care teams, patients, and information. With a workforce of over 800 employees spread across 20 communities, they provide IT support and services to 433 locations. This ensures that healthcare professionals have the necessary information and tools to focus on patient care. Additionally, eHealth manages Vital Statistics, health card services, and MySaskHealthRecord, a leading platform for individuals to access their health information online. The Business Planner, Technical Strategy & Planning Performance role is crucial for driving strategic planning, performance management, and organizational alignment for key technology initiatives. This position involves collaborating with leaders, teams, and partners throughout the province to create strategies, roadmaps, business cases, and performance metrics that support innovation and the organization's mission of connected healthcare. The goal is to ensure that technology investments provide significant value to patients, providers, and the overall health system.

Requirements

  • A degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 1-3 years of progressive experience in business planning, strategic planning, facilitation, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Experience developing business cases, strategic plans, performance measures, reports, or recommendations for leadership.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, business case development, and organizational planning processes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, presentation, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
  • Build strong relationships and thrive in collaborative environments, working effectively across diverse teams, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
  • Bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to planning, problem-solving, and decision-making, even in complex or evolving situations.
  • Understand how to connect strategy, operations, technology frameworks, and business priorities to achieve organizational goals.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex concepts into actionable recommendations.
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, balancing multiple priorities while remaining adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning activities, including coordinating planning cycles, developing business plans, roadmaps, and recommendations that support organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to align projects, priorities, and resources with eHealth Saskatchewan's strategic objectives and broader health system goals.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and environmental scans to support innovation initiatives, business cases, and informed decision-making.
  • Develop and monitor performance measures, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting frameworks that drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Create and deliver briefings, presentations, reports, and other strategic communications while supporting governance, audit, and business transformation initiatives.
  • Develop a consistent annual audit schedule and management controls for Digital Services audit information management.
  • Coordination of project, priorities, and deliverables across the Digital Services Team.
  • Understanding of interdependencies across our department and how to best align work and resources in conjunction with eHealth and health system priorities.
  • Creating and packaging documentation, presentations, information and decision items for various audiences.
  • Coordination and support for business process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordination of the development and implementation of metrics and KPI’s for department.
  • Assist with the development of AI based innovation tools.
