About The Position

The work involves the responsibility for administering and managing financial aspects of the Orange County Housing Department for accounting/business standards and practices, and policy implementation. An employee in this class is responsible for financial administration and management of all funding resources for housing programs, including invoicing, contracts, grants, and reimbursements. Responsibility includes performing a range of financial and business-related duties associated with specialized areas such as accounting, budgeting, auditing, and grants administration for the housing department. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Housing Director with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within local, state, and federal regulations and procedures. Duties consist of multiple work assignments, planning and accomplishing projects, and addressing stakeholder needs. Supervision over others is required of this position. Position does related work as required. A background check is required.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field
  • Four (4) years of work experience in areas of budget, invoicing, payables and receivables, and assisting with grant funding and procurement
  • One (1) year of supervisory responsibility
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in governmental accounting including accounts payable administration is preferred.
