About The Position

Manage, direct and supervise the business operations of the CALSNR Dean's office including personnel, financial and office activities and services; interpret, administer, and apply university policy and procedures; conduct special projects as set forth by the Dean or Director; assist with development of policy and procedures for area of influence; work under very limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years work-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Complete all accounting functions including P-card transactions and reconciliation, purchase orders, contracts and other financial transactions.
  • Reconcile all departmental accounts as applicable including unrestricted, restricted, designated and grants or any other special account.
  • Monitor, analyze, determine priorities and make recommendations pertaining to expenditures, budgets, and data flow.
  • Serve as Cost Center Approver to Authorize or reject expenditure/disbursement of area funds in accordance with applicable statutes, policies and budgetary limitation; research complex data, analyze situation and recommend alternative solutions.
  • Review business/accounting work for accuracy and coordination of flow; research and report on budgeting and personnel activity.
  • Communicates with the Budget Office to set up all faculty start-up accounts.
  • Manages all faculty start-up accounts.
  • Manages all CALSNR program fees.
  • Manages and oversees all approved college financial commitments.
  • Assists with position and operating budgets for all Deans Office accounts.
  • Manages the colleges GRI AA funding.
  • Oversees and manages copier services access and maintenance.
  • Prepare financial reports; perform complex accounting functions; participate in meetings concerning financial aspects of a designated area.
  • Recommend alternative solutions to management as to courses of action that best meet the organizations goals.
  • Manage personnel and payroll functions in the department as applicable.
  • Includes working directly with and having knowledge of UW hiring practices and HCM transactions for employee hires.
  • Includes completion or oversight of all hiring documents for faculty, administrative staff, research staff, graduate students and undergraduate employees as well as supervision and/or timecard entry.
  • Includes supplemental salary requests and summer salary and documentation required for grants.
  • Perform problem resolution relating to correct forms, procedures and campus resources; interpretation and recommendations pertaining to State, University, College and Department policies and procedures and payroll and HR issues.
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate support staff; supervise accounting and related personnel functions.
  • Counsel staff and clients regarding policy, procedure and guidelines; provide policy interpretations and application procedures.
  • Conduct special projects, as directed.
  • Responsible for computerized documentation; may perform routine programming.
  • May monitor and update fee schedules as directed.
  • May act as liaison to departments and campus administration.
