About The Position

KEPL is a fast-growing team at Cubist Systematic Strategies, specializing in trading medium-frequency statistical arbitrage strategies with high Sharpe. The team is made up of people from top universities and top tier trading and tech firms. We have an open and collaborative culture, and we value rigorous research and innovative technologies. We are actively expanding into new markets and assets classes. We are looking for a Business Manager to join KEPL and help manage the team’s internal operations. This role is focused on team coordination, recruitment support, employee experience, and operational execution. The candidate will work closely with the Portfolio Manager to improve team efficiency, manage priorities, coordinate internal processes, and help create a high performing and sustainable team environment. The ideal candidate is highly reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys solving operational problems, supporting people, and taking ownership of important internal initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required, preferably in STEM, business, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in finance or a related field.
  • Experience in business operations, chief of staff, project management, recruiting operations, strategy, consulting, or similar roles is preferred.
  • Experience in trading is a plus.
  • Proficiency with GenAI tools, Microsoft Office suite, and Jira (or similar productivity tools).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with technical, research, and business teams.
  • Open minded and willing to learn.
  • Ability to operate independently, identify problems, and proactively communicate and drive solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Portfolio Manager in daily operations, planning, prioritization, and follow-ups.
  • Help manage team standards and processes, including meetings, action items, timelines, documentation, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Coordinate recruiting operations, including candidate tracking, interview scheduling, feedback collection, onboarding logistics, and communication with the firm’s recruiting teams.
  • Support employee onboarding, training coordination, team integration, and ongoing employee experience.
  • Manage and improve employee workload balance and internal communication.
  • Organize team events, offsites, knowledge sharing sessions, and culture building initiatives.
  • Assist with headcount planning, seating, equipment, access requests, and other operational needs.
  • Build and maintain internal systems, dashboards, trackers, and documentation to improve transparency and execution.
  • Partner with the firm’s internal functions such as HR, legal, compliance, finance, technology, and facilities to ensure smooth team operations.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc projects to help the team scale effectively.
