About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Manager to provide fiscal oversight and financial management for a diverse portfolio of grants, contracts, and institutional funding sources. The ideal candidate will oversee accounting operations, budget development, financial reporting, and compliance activities while ensuring the integrity of financial and business operations. This role serves as a key financial advisor to leadership, departments, and principal investigators, supporting strategic planning, resource allocation, and sound fiscal decision-making. Strong analytical, budgeting, and financial management skills, along with knowledge of regulatory compliance and fund administration, are essential for success in this position. This position may be underfilled as a Fiscal Manager II on a career development plan if unable to fill at the Fiscal Manager III.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree + 8 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting and 8 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fiscal oversight and financial management for grants and contracts managed by the Office of Engineering Research, for the College of Engineering researchers.
  • Ensuring the integrity of accounting and business operations across multiple funding sources.
  • Manage and oversee all accounting functions for the College of Engineering (COE), including restricted awards, unrestricted funds, Research and Public Service Projects (RPSP), E-Fee funds, gift accounts, Differential Tuition (DT) funding and Global funding.
  • Monitor daily fiscal operations to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, sponsor, and university policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develop, monitor, and reconcile budgets for restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets and funding requirements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, budget projections, and fiscal analyses for college leadership, principal investigators, and other stakeholders to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Provide financial guidance and oversight to departments and principal investigators regarding budget management, allowable expenditures, and funding availability.
  • Coordinate annual budget development and forecasting for all college funding sources, ensuring accurate financial planning and resource allocation.
  • Review financial transactions and account activity to maintain accurate records, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
