About The Position

The Center for Media Innovation (CMI) at Point Park University serves aspiring and professional journalists with state-of-the-art media labs, studios, and a collaborative learning environment to foster innovation in media. Its components include Pittsburgh Media Partnership, a collaboration among news outlets in southwestern Pennsylvania; Press Forward Southwestern Pennsylvania, the local chapter of a national movement to engage philanthropy in local news; and CMI Production House, an experiential learning outlet serving external clients. The CMI Business Manager will take ownership of the Center's back office functions. This role is responsible for overseeing a wide range of administrative and financial tasks, including scheduling, budget tracking, invoicing, and grant reporting. This position requires a highly organized and proactive individual who can manage multiple responsibilities to ensure the smooth, consistent operation of the CMI.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational, office management, and budget-tracking skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and take initiative with minimal oversight.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with a willingness to support staff to ensure seamless operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily back-office functions of the Center for Media Innovation and its Media Hub.
  • Track multiple budgets, oversee revenue and expenditures, and manage contracts, invoices, and payments.
  • Coordinate space reservations within the CMI and Media Hub and manage the Director's calendar.
  • Handle the day-to-day management of the Media Hub, including rent collection and the provision of catering, coffee, and snacks, as well as maintenance of its spaces and amenities.
  • Collect assessment data for reports to the University and external partners. Produce grant reports by tracking deadlines, spending, and program progress.
  • Administer employee paperwork for hiring, approve timesheets, and provide oversight for student workers, practicum students, apprentices, and interns.
  • Provide additional administrative and logistical support to the CMI staff as needed.
