The Business Manager will report to the Chief of Staff and partner across HR, Recruiting, Finance, Procurement, and the leadership team. This is an entry-level role designed for someone who is curious, detail-driven, and eager to build a broad foundation in business management. You'll get exposure to the full surface area of how a business runs — operations, finance, vendor management, headcount, communications, and culture — and over time you'll deepen in the areas where the business needs you most. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 1+ year(s) of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in business operations, program/project coordination, finance or HR operations, communications, or a related field (internships count).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 — Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams without losing track.
  • Knowledge of budget tracking, purchase orders, or vendor/procurement processes, headcount, hiring, or workforce planning processes.
  • Experience producing internal communications or executive-ready content.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with cross-group collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day rhythm of business: prepare for staff meetings and leadership reviews, capture action items, follow up on commitments, and help keep the operating cadence on track.
  • Recommend process improvements as you learn the system and help document and standardize how the team runs. Develop and create business processes and tools to continuously improve organizational efficiency. Look for new opportunities to enhance ongoing engagements to improve overall interaction with team members.
  • Contribute to cross-team projects and special initiatives as needs evolve across the organization.
  • Perform headcount administration: maintain the personnel number system, validate funding alignment, and keep org data accurate as the team hires, transfers, and grows.
  • Track open requisitions in partnership with Admins and Recruiting; support hiring managers with pipeline visibility, interview loop coordination, and offer status.
  • Support onboarding logistics for new hires so every new team member starts strong.
  • Execute the internal communications rhythm: All Hands, AMAs, newsletters, leadership FYIs, and team-wide announcements.
  • Support production of team content — partner decks, event materials, results summaries, and the team SharePoint — so messaging is consistent and on time.
  • Support development of executive communications and presentations under the direction of senior business managers.
  • Develop ongoing strategic plans for when and how communications should be shared.
  • Drive role-based and compliance training completion; partner with HR to track scorecards and close gaps.
  • Plan and execute training logistics, including scheduling, registration, attendance tracking, and feedback.
  • Support culture initiatives — Recognition, Microsoft Poll response actions, offsites, and morale events — in partnership with HR and the leadership team.
  • Support the annual budget process under the direction of the Chief of Staff and Finance partner.
  • Partner with Procurement to onboard vendors, manage statements of work, monitor contract renewals, and ensure vendor deliverables and invoices stay on track.
  • Track financial progress to date against budget and flag variances early.
