About The Position

The Business Manager plays a vital role within Global Payments Network (GPN) by providing both strategic and tactical support to explore new or enhanced business and product opportunities. This position is central to driving thought leadership through comprehensive operational and product analysis and the evaluation of solution options and associated risks. As a part of the team, you will assist in identifying, assessing and capitalizing on growth opportunities for the organization. Working collaboratively with various client-facing teams—including Business Development, Product Managers, Operations, and multiple levels of management, you will offer strategic and tactical support in identifying and developing new or improved business opportunities. You will take a lead role in thought leadership by conducting in-depth analyses of operational activities, exploring solution options, assessing risks, and supporting the implementation of business strategies and opportunities. You will shape the “why” behind the data, trends and analytics while partnering closely with functional leaders and Global Payment Network business partners (i.e. Sales, Product, Pricing, Risk, etc.) to ensure holistic representation of business efforts, activities, results. You will translate ambiguous business questions into structured analyses and clear recommendations and develop enablement programs to secure acceptance at merchants across the U.S. and globally. You will also identify gaps and opportunities to generate business insights, dashboards, etc.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in analysis

  • A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management

Responsibilities

  • Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands
  • May manage and develop 1-2 analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One
  • Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level modeling/analytics
  • Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go-to-market strategies
  • Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis
  • Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability
