About The Position

As the team responsible for governing Capital One’s entire model portfolio, the Model Risk Office (MROf) plays a critical role in enabling the long-term, sustainable success of Capital One – especially as the enterprise (and world) becomes increasingly reliant on ever-more-complicated models! The MROf owns model policy at Capital One, and sits at the intersection of Data Science, Business, Risk Management, and Technology – with a mission to cultivate data and modeling excellence at Capital One. We work with modeling teams across the enterprise to ensure sound modeling practices while simultaneously championing innovation and regulatory compliance. Role Description: As a Business Manager on the Strategy & Chief of Staff Team, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering key elements of our ongoing, multi-year strategic transformation. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with considerable exposure to senior leadership across the enterprise. We are looking for well-rounded analysts interested in owning the end-to-end strategic project delivery lifecycle. Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)
  • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in analysis
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services
  • 1+ year of experience in consulting
  • 2+ years of experience in people management
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands
  • May manage and develop 1-2 analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One
  • Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level modeling/analytics
  • Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go-to-market strategies
  • Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis
  • Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability
