About The Position

Zipline is on a mission to transform how goods move by making autonomous drone delivery the fastest, most reliable, and most delightful logistics system in the world. To sustain our global expansion, we need a Business Intelligence Lead who functions as an AI-augmented strategist—someone who doesn't just look at dashboards but builds the intelligent systems that tell us where to go next. As the BI Lead for the Commercial team, you are the "intelligence layer" of our operation. You are a power user of Zipline’s data stack, leveraging it to build cutting-edge AI tools and automated workflows that illuminate complex market dynamics. You are a "builder-operator" who uses AI to eliminate manual work and move at the speed of autonomous flight. This is a role for a seasoned professional (10+ years) who thrives on using data-driven influence to align stakeholders and turn commercial insights into operational reality. This role is based out of our HQ in South San Francisco, CA.

Requirements

  • Expert Communication: You are able to transform complexity into simple, clear, and actionable insight
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in high growth environments, tech, eCommerce, military, business intelligence, revenue operations, and/or consulting.
  • AI & Automation Mastery: You are a specialist in the modern AI toolkit. You have a track record of using LLMs, Python-based automations, and AI workflows to solve business problems.
  • Expert Data Consumption: You are an expert at navigating complex data environments. While you won't manage the stack, you understand SQL and BI platforms, capable of extracting high-value insights from diverse sources.
  • Soft Power & Diplomacy: Exceptional ability to work cross-functionally. You know how to build consensus among diverse teams and drive adoption without needing a direct reporting line to get things done.

Nice To Haves

  • An MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative field is preferred, providing the business frameworks necessary to navigate Zipline’s global commercial landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a visionary power user of AI. You will code and deploy custom AI agents, custom internal tools, and automated workflows that turn raw data into real-time recommendations.
  • Leverage our existing data stack to take full ownership of measuring commercial health. You will identify systemic opportunities and pinpoint "exploit-ready" growth areas.
  • Redefine visibility at Zipline. You will identify every manual commercial process and architect an automated, AI-enhanced alternative, ensuring our Commercial team spends less time digging for data and more time winning markets.
  • Lead through technical diplomacy. You will partner with Engineering and Data teams to ensure the commercial requirements are met, using your soft power to resolve bottlenecks and drive results across the organization.
