About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a passionate, curious, and talented Business Intelligence Engineer to join their HR team. This role supports a growing business segment providing critical services for AWS national security customers. The position is high impact, requiring the ability to build data solutions that drive operational excellence, automate manual processes, and deliver actionable insights. Success hinges on translating complex data into compelling narratives, evangelizing AI-powered solutions, and driving efficiency through automation. The role demands superior analytical strength, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to synthesize business complexities to drive results. A strong sense of urgency, sound judgment, and a willingness to be hands-on are essential. The Business Intelligence Engineer will collaborate with HR Leaders, Security, global stakeholders, AWS business ops/finance, and business-aligned program teams. A strong technical background in data engineering and analytics, adaptability in a dynamic environment, and the ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities are crucial. From day one, Business Intelligence Engineers are empowered with ownership and autonomy to make data-driven decisions that significantly impact customer experience and the business. This role involves cross-functional work across HR, Security, Engineering, Compensation, and Finance, with high visibility to senior AWS leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent, or 1+ years of relevant technical position experience
  • 3+ years of business analyst, data analyst or similar role experience
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboard development
  • US Citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
  • Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
  • Experience analyzing HR metrics and using data insights to drive business decisions
  • Experience communicating complex concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences
  • Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment

  • Respond to questions with data-driven analysis.
  • Build self-service tools that empower customers to make informed decisions quickly.
  • Drive innovation with AI-powered self-service analytics by evangelizing and piloting AI/ML use cases leveraging QuickSuite to transform how work is done.
  • Build interactive dashboards and AI-powered agents that enable teams to answer their own questions.
  • Explore automation frameworks, machine learning models, and agentic workflows to improve data capabilities.
  • Challenge the status quo and bring bold ideas that reshape the approach to workforce analytics.
  • Support execution of key deliverables such as Monthly Business Reviews and specialized compensation administration.
  • Build scalable solutions that move processes from manual to automated in support of growing scale and complexity.
  • Move fast, iterate quickly, and take ownership of problems to drive them to resolution.
  • Develop and maintain reporting QuickSight dashboards that synthesize the needs of HR, security, recruiting, and business teams to deliver accurate, reliable data.
  • Ensure data quality and audit compliance across workforce analytics and compensation programs.
  • Design and implement ETL pipelines, data models, and warehousing solutions.
  • Write quality SQL and Python code to transform raw data into structured, analysis-ready datasets that enable smart decision making.
