About The Position

Chewy Pharmacy Operations relies on timely, trusted data to deliver safe, efficient, and world-class customer experiences across Vet Services and Rx Fulfillment teams. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer II (C05) to help build scalable data foundations and deliver clear analytics, reporting, and visualizations that help operators understand performance and take action. This role blends hands-on data model development, repeatable reporting, dashboard creation, and deep-dive analysis in partnership with Operations, Operations Support, Data Science, Analytics, and Technology teams. The BIE II will own analytics solutions within defined Pharmacy Operations domains, contribute to larger data initiatives, and help translate operational questions into trusted, scalable reporting and insights that support better decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, Data Analytics, or related roles building data models, curated datasets, dashboards, and analytics solutions for business or operations teams.
  • Strong SQL proficiency, including complex joins, data transformation logic, query optimization, troubleshooting data issues, and building reliable data models in Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse.
  • Experience working with large, multi-source datasets and developing trusted, reusable data assets that create a consistent view of business performance across domains such as Call Center, Fulfillment, Operations, or similar operational datasets.
  • Working knowledge of data warehouse concepts and data modeling practices, including curated datasets, data marts, semantic layers, metric definitions, and downstream BI consumption patterns.
  • Experience with modern data transformation and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, or comparable ETL/ELT tooling, including documentation, validation, testing, and maintainability practices.
  • Experience building reporting or visualization products in Tableau or comparable BI tools, with a focus on enabling business users through reliable, well-modeled data foundations.
  • Ability to partner with Operations, Analytics, Data Science, Technology, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, understand source-system logic, and translate operational needs into practical, scalable data solutions.
  • Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to investigate complex data, identify patterns and trends, explain performance drivers, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage assigned work, navigate problems of diverse scope, ask good questions, and collaborate effectively with peers, managers, and cross-functional partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with dbt concepts and best practices, or experience contributing to governed SQL transformation frameworks.
  • Experience supporting data quality checks, monitoring, or alerting for important reporting datasets.
  • Python experience for analysis, automation, or data validation.
  • Experience in operations, healthcare, pharmacy, fulfillment, contact center, supply chain, or other process-heavy environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain complex, multi-domain data models for Chewy Pharmacy Operations, integrating data across Call Center, Fulfillment, and Operations datasets into trusted, scalable structures that support analytics, operational insights, and downstream reporting.
  • Develop reliable transformation logic using SQL and modern data tooling such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and related ETL/ELT frameworks, with attention to accuracy, performance, reusability, lineage, and downstream consumption.
  • Create curated datasets, semantic layers, and reusable data assets that standardize business logic, improve metric consistency, and enable teams to answer recurring and emerging operational questions.
  • Partner with Operations, Operations Support, Data Science, Analytics, and Technology teams to understand workflows, clarify business requirements, evaluate source-system logic, and translate operational needs into well-designed data solutions.
  • Define and maintain clear metric definitions, documentation, validation logic, and data quality checks to improve trust, consistency, and long-term maintainability across Pharmacy analytics products.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis using large and complex datasets to explain performance trends, identify root causes, quantify impact, and recommend actions that improve operational outcomes.
  • Support reporting and visualization needs through tools such as Tableau or comparable BI platforms by ensuring business users have access to reliable, well-modeled, and clearly documented data foundations.
