The Business Intelligence Developer III is a senior technical expert responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data intelligence solutions that support strategic decision-making across the organization. This role leverages Microsoft and IBM data platforms, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and delivers high-quality analytics solutions while driving continuous improvement and supporting business intelligence initiatives.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related roles
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL and relational databases is required
  • Advanced proficiency in data warehousing concepts, data modeling and ETL processes is required
  • Experience with Power BI (Power BI Services, Desktop, Power Query, DAX, Administration) is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, OneLake, Notebooks) or equivalent is required
  • Fluent in English with proven competencies in verbal and written communication is required.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) is required
  • Successful completion of a credit check, criminal background check, education verification, and employment reference checks is required before employment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, PySpark or R is an asset
  • Experience with Cognos v11.x (Framework Manager, Report Studio, Administration, Motio PI/CI) is an asset
  • Experience with IBM iSeries and DB2 Experience is an asset
  • Fluent in French with proven competencies in verbal and written communication is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop analytics solutions using Power BI for new and existing applications, Power BI for innovated solutions, and adapting to emerging BI tools.
  • Transform business requirements into effective BI solutions.
  • Design, build, and deploy robust BI reporting frameworks and data visualization tools.
  • Maintain and support data analytics and corporate reporting systems for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor BI platform performance, manage user permissions, and ensure the scalability of the infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, improve, and upgrade existing BI systems as needed.
  • Manage development ticket queues with a focus on quality, problem-solving, and efficient delivery.
  • Conduct unit testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance on analytics deliverables.
  • Ensure analytics solutions meet organizational standards and deliver high user satisfaction.
  • Oversee customer communication, gather and provide feedback, share insights with team.
  • Provide advanced data analysis through database querying with T-SQL or PySpark, ETL, and data pipelines.
  • Provide data modeling for analytics to ensure efficient data processing and accessibility.
  • Generate strategic insights from data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and update comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and technical leader, influencing data strategy and analytics best practices across the organization.
  • Mentor and support team members through knowledge sharing, coaching, and technical guidance.
  • Lead complex analytics initiatives and provide direction on solution design, architecture, and development standards.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team effectiveness, operational efficiency, and analytics maturity.
  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships and effectively manage competing priorities to deliver business value.
  • Champion change initiatives related to data modernization, reporting platforms, and analytics capabilities.
  • Demonstrate workplace professionalism and contribute to team-oriented efforts.
  • Adhere to all corporate business policies and procedures.
