About The Position

The Business Intelligence & Data Solutions Specialist is responsible for improving how the company organizes, presents, and uses data to manage operations, measure performance, and support decision-making. This hands-on individual contributor role will develop and maintain reporting and analytical solutions using the company's Microsoft data environment, including SQL Server, Power BI, Reporting Services, and Excel. A key focus will be transforming transactional data from operational systems into well-structured, reliable, and reusable reporting datasets that provide users with consistent definitions and trusted information. The position will work directly with users and leaders across the organization to understand business processes, translate requirements into effective analytical solutions, and coach users on how to use data to manage operations and people. The role will combine strong technical and analytical skills with business acumen and an ability to turn data into meaningful insights and actionable information. The position will also explore emerging AI and data-access technologies that can make trusted company information easier for employees to access, understand, and use.

Requirements

Strong SQL skills and experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience developing reports, dashboards, data models, and analytical solutions using Power BI.
Strong working knowledge of Excel and its use as a business analysis and reporting tool.
Experience transforming transactional/OLTP data into structured datasets designed for reporting, analytics, and OLAP workloads.
Understanding of relational database design, data modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts.
Experience developing DAX measures, calculations, queries, and functions within Power BI.
Ability to understand business processes and translate business requirements into meaningful analytical solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert data into meaningful insights and identify opportunities for improvement.
Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to work effectively with users and leaders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently with limited supervision, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
Strong attention to data quality, testing, validation, security, governance, and documentation.

Nice To Haves

Degree or technical training in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), OLAP, or related Microsoft reporting technologies is beneficial.
Experience administering Power BI workspaces, applications, refreshes, distribution, usage, and security is beneficial.
Experience with logistics, warehousing, transportation, distribution, or other operational environments is beneficial.
Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics, natural-language data access, or related emerging technologies is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and improve reports, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical tools using Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Excel, and related Microsoft technologies.
Transform transactional data from company operational systems into structured datasets and data models designed for reporting, analytics, and reuse across the organization.
Design and maintain reporting tables, views, transformations, measures, calculations, and other data structures that provide consistent definitions and trusted business information.
Develop reporting solutions that support both organization-wide performance measurement and appropriate drill-down to individual operations, customers, locations, departments, or other business entities.
Work directly with stakeholders to understand business processes and translate operational and management requirements into effective data models, measures, reports, and dashboards.
Develop reporting that helps users identify trends, exceptions, opportunities, and areas requiring action rather than simply presenting data.
Administer Power BI reporting resources, including workspaces, applications, report distribution, data refreshes, usage, and appropriate security access.
Maintain the functionality, accuracy, relevance, and performance of existing reporting solutions and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Establish and maintain consistent definitions for key business measures, dimensions, calculations, and performance indicators in alignment with company data governance practices.
Promote self-service analytics by providing users with understandable, documented, and trusted datasets that can be effectively used through Excel, Power BI, Reporting Services, and other approved tools.
Coach users and leaders on interpreting data, selecting appropriate measures, developing effective reports, and incorporating data into day-to-day management practices.
Develop appropriate testing and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reports, datasets, measures, and analytical outputs.
Identify and resolve data quality and consistency issues in collaboration with application developers, business users, and other technical resources.
Develop and maintain documentation for reporting datasets, business rules, data definitions, reports, dashboards, and related analytical resources.
Evaluate AI-enabled analytics, natural-language data access, and other emerging technologies that may help employees more effectively access and use company information while maintaining appropriate data quality, security, and governance.
Continually identify opportunities to improve reporting capabilities and use data, analytics, and emerging technologies to drive operational and company-wide improvement.
