Business Insights Analyst
About The Position
Business Insights is the analytics function at the center of how Jitsu runs. We own the numbers the business makes decisions on operational performance, pricing, unit economics and the daily dashboards the operations team works from. We sit close to the decision. An analysis here is not a slide that gets filed; it changes a price, a route, a staffing plan or a target the same week. The team is small, which means you will own real questions early. This role is new headcount. We are adding it because demand for analysis is outpacing what the team can turn around, and because we want someone who will grow into owning a domain of their own.
Requirements
- 0–2 years of experience in an analytical role, or a degree and project work that shows you can do this kind of thinking. Internships and coursework count.
- Comfort with data. You can work through a dataset and get to a defensible answer. SQL experience is ideal; if you have not used SQL but have done real analytical work in Python, R or Excel, we will teach you.
- Quantitative judgement. You notice when a number looks wrong, and you check it before you send it.
- Clear communication. You can explain a result to someone who was not in the analysis, without jargon.
- Genuine appetite to learn. This is the single thing we screen hardest for. The tools and the domain you can pick up; the drive to pick them up quickly, you bring.
- Comfort in a fast-paced environment. Priorities shift, questions arrive half-formed, and the answer is often needed this week. You need to be able to work with ambiguity rather than wait for it to resolve.
- Ownership. You follow a question through to the decision it informs, rather than handing off a spreadsheet and moving on.
Nice To Haves
- Working SQL against a cloud warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.)
- A BI tool: Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase or similar
- Python or R for analysis, or experience building a repeatable data pipeline
- Financial modelling, unit economics or pricing exposure
- Any experience in logistics, delivery, marketplaces or another operations-heavy business
- A portfolio, GitHub, or a personal project where you analyzed something because you were curious about it
Responsibilities
- Answer business questions with data. Pull, join and interrogate data across our warehouse to answer questions from operations, finance and leadership, and know when the answer you found is wrong.
- Build and run daily operational dashboards. Own a set of dashboards the operations team opens every morning: keep them accurate, keep them fast, and improve what they show as the business changes.
- Support pricing and financial analysis. Model margin and unit economics, test pricing scenarios, and help quantify the trade-offs behind pricing and commercial decisions.
- Contribute to strategic analysis. Size opportunities, build the analysis behind planning and market questions, and pressure-test assumptions before they become commitments.
- Turn analysis into a recommendation. Write up what you found in plain language, with the number that matters up front and a clear view of what you would do about it.
- Improve how we work. Automate the recurring pulls, document the definitions, and make the next version of every analysis faster than the last.
- Work directly with stakeholders. Sit with operations, finance and commercial teams to scope the real question behind the request.
