About The Position

The Business Information Systems Manager provides oversight and leadership of Facilities Services Information Services, encompassing all aspects of data management and analysis to support the business intelligence environment. This role supervises 3-4 full-time employees, extra help, and student employees in the areas of Informatics, Business Applications, GIS, and Project Management. The manager is responsible for supervising a team of IT Service Analysts (BIS Team), providing critical support across all Facilities Services Departments. They also own and manage the Facilities Services Technology Assessment Process, define Facilities Services BIS Team Governance, and administer the Facilities Services intranet, Document Management solution, and CMMS Vendor Portal for submitting Work Order requests. The position reports to, assists, and consults with the Facilities Services Executive Director, gathers and shares budgetary information to support BIS Team outcomes, and creates and maintains BIS Team training documentation for client support and Trades training documentation for supported system use.

Requirements

  • Experience managing employees as a direct-report supervisor
  • Experience delivering change management across different audiences
  • Experience acting as a conduit between business needs and technology outcomes
  • A self-starter with the ability to deliver recommended approaches using complex problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, IT Management, Programmer, IT Systems or related degree (verify with transcript)
  • At least five (5) years of full time (or part time equivalent) professional level work experience as an Application Administrator or lead operational role in business and/or technology systems such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Electronic Access or similar IT systems, with project management experience in leading and managing projects throughout the project life cycle from initiation to closure
  • Three (3) years of the professional level work experience must have included supervisory experience
  • Effectively communicate on a daily basis
  • Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
  • Remain at a workstation for extended periods
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without ISU sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with information technology systems such as WebTMA, 25Live, and Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience utilizing and managing GIS systems
