The Business Engagement Specialist is responsible for researching, conducting outreach to, and building relationships with prospective employers to gain commitments to consider and potentially employ YAI's employment training participants. This role also involves maintaining relationships with existing employer partners through active stewardship to support continued opportunities for employment-related activities. The specialist will schedule and conduct daily prospecting, cold calls, and face-to-face meetings with businesses to generate new partnerships and employment opportunities. They will also meet with new program participants to determine their skill level and interests for appropriate job matches, and support them in achieving their employment goals. The role requires conducting various assessments, documenting all activities, and serving as a liaison between employers, participants, and YAI staff. A key part of the role is completing the discovery process with unemployed participants to inform job matching and development efforts, and engaging participants through on-site visits, observations, and situational assessments. The Business Engagement Specialist may also perform the duties of an Employment Training Specialist, including job coaching and providing coverage as needed, and making referrals to vocational development services or completing job development plans. Regular coordination with other YAI staff is essential to solicit potential employers and ensure appropriate job matches. Compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and other relevant regulatory agency requirements, including HIPAA, is mandatory. The role may also involve site development efforts for related programs.
