The New York Times's business desk is on the forefront of some of the biggest issues of our times, serving a general interest audience but also closely watched by many of the influential powerbrokers we cover. We are seeking a dynamic journalist to lead our business desk — both to uphold its strong foundation and to lead its evolution in a relentlessly shifting news and media environment. The successful candidate ought to have a strong news metabolism and a record of motivating reporters to break consequential stories and produce competitive coverage, including explanatory, analytical and investigative journalism. You are steeped in business coverage and have an innovative vision for making our report even more essential, from the conception of beats to the use of new storytelling forms. You are an experienced manager who can oversee and coordinate the work of large teams of journalists, while collaborating effectively with departments across a large newsroom. You will oversee a report expressed across multiple formats: text, video, photo, interactive graphics, and more. And you are attuned to maintaining a healthy culture that fosters teamwork, high morale and professional development for a large global staff. This position is based in our New York City headquarters.
