About The Position

The Business Development & Strategy Program Manager is responsible for driving organizational growth by identifying, developing, and executing strategic business opportunities within the environmental and engineering industry. This role supports both federal and commercial clients, with a strong emphasis on federal contracting and portfolio management in Alaska. The position partners closely with leadership, proposal teams, and subject matter experts to expand market presence, strengthen client relationships, and advance long-term strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications (i.e., excel, word, power point, etc.)
  • Skill in establishing relationships like working with corporate management, managers, co-workers, and outside contacts.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing information.
  • Possess strong analytical skills to review, evaluate, and synthesize information.
  • High level of organizational skills, as well as time management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Problem solving and demonstrating initiative to improve process, procedures, etc.
  • Possess and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity, respect, flexibility, and sound work ethics.
  • Strong understanding of environmental and engineering industry practices, particularly within federal contracting environments.
  • Expertise in business development strategy, opportunity identification, and market expansion.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain long-term relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven, results-oriented approach to decision-making.
  • Proficiency in managing and reporting on sales pipelines
  • Knowledge of Alaska’s federal market landscape and experience managing federal portfolios in the region.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering, or marketing/business-related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in the environmental/engineering industry and five (5) years of experience in a business development/strategy program role.
  • Project Management Professional Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities and emerging markets within federal and commercial sectors.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies that align with organizational goals and long-term growth plans.
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain trusted relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead proposal development efforts, including strategy formulation, team coordination, and final submission.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support growth initiatives and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Manage and track sales pipeline activity, providing regular reporting on performance metrics and forecasts.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking engagements to enhance visibility and expand partnerships.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to support the execution of environmental projects for federal and commercial clients, with emphasis on Alaska-based federal portfolios.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
