We transform commercial buildings into smart environments operating in Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, and Pittsburgh, PA. Chesapeake Controls, Inc. (CCI) is looking for an experienced Business Development Sales professional specializing in HVAC and Building Automation/Controls to help grow our customer base and expand our presence throughout the region. This role is ideal for someone who understands the HVAC and controls industry, enjoys building relationships, and can identify opportunities where CCI’s solutions can provide real value to customers. You’ll work closely with our Sales, Service, Construction, and Operations teams to develop new business and strengthen existing customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Previous business development or sales experience in HVAC, Building Automation/Controls, mechanical systems, or a related industry
  • Experience developing estimates, proposals, scopes of work, and pricing for HVAC and/or controls projects
  • Ability to review plans, specifications, and project requirements
  • Ability to collaborate with estimating, operations, service, and technical teams
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and/or building automation and controls
  • Proven ability to develop new accounts and build long-term customer relationships
  • Comfortable prospecting and creating new opportunities—not simply managing existing accounts
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to understand technical solutions and communicate their value to customers
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing a sales pipeline

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for HVAC, Building Automation Systems (BAS), controls, service, and related solutions
  • Build relationships with building owners, facility managers, general contractors, mechanical contractors, engineers, and other key decision-makers
  • Prospect and generate new leads through networking, industry relationships, referrals, and targeted outreach
  • Develop opportunities within both new and existing accounts
  • Meet with customers to understand their facilities, challenges, budgets, and long-term needs
  • Prepare estimates, proposals, and scopes of work for HVAC and controls opportunities
  • Review project requirements, plans, specifications, and customer needs to develop accurate and competitive pricing
  • Participate in project turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transition from sales to operations and clearly communicate scope, pricing, customer expectations, and project requirements
  • Partner with CCI’s technical and operations teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide regular updates on opportunities, activity, and results
  • Follow opportunities from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and close
  • Attend industry events, association meetings, networking events, and customer meetings
  • Stay current on HVAC, BAS, controls, energy efficiency, and smart building trends
  • Represent Chesapeake Controls professionally and help strengthen our reputation in the marketplace
