As a Business Development Representative, Freight Brokerage, you will play a key role in growing Odyssey’s freight brokerage business. You will identify prospective shippers, uncover supply chain challenges, and introduce solutions that help customers move freight more efficiently and reliably. This is an opportunity to build a meaningful pipeline, develop long-term customer relationships, and directly contribute to the growth of a global logistics organization. Requirements

  • Two to four years of freight brokerage, third-party logistics, or transportation sales experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in B2B prospecting, relationship development, and moderately complex sales cycles.
  • Knowledge of truckload, less-than-truckload, expedited, intermodal, or related freight solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The confidence and professionalism to engage and influence business decision-makers.
  • A self-motivated, resilient, and results-oriented approach to sales.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple prospects and priorities.
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or a similar system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting through phone calls, email, LinkedIn, and other digital sales tools.
  • Identify and pursue mid-market shippers with meaningful freight spend and complex transportation needs.
  • Research target industries, supply chain profiles, and key decision-makers to create effective outreach strategies.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline that includes ongoing transportation needs, RFP opportunities, seasonal demand, and project-based freight.
  • Consistently generate new conversations, meetings, and sales opportunities.
  • Lead discovery conversations to understand prospective customers’ transportation challenges, priorities, and goals.
  • Position Odyssey’s freight brokerage and 3PL capabilities as solutions to customer needs.
  • Develop proposals, service presentations, and pricing strategies tailored to each opportunity.
  • Communicate Odyssey’s value proposition clearly and confidently to stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Stay informed about freight market conditions, industry developments, and competitor activity.
  • Manage relationships with newly secured customers during the initial onboarding period.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, pricing, and account management teams to support a smooth customer launch.
  • Monitor initial shipment activity to confirm pricing, service expectations, and carrier performance.
  • Maintain proactive communication with customers during onboarding to build trust and quickly resolve concerns.
  • Help transition established accounts to the appropriate account management team while maintaining a positive customer experience.
  • Keep complete and accurate records of prospecting activity, customer interactions, opportunities, and pipeline stages in the CRM.
  • Track and report prospecting activity, conversion rates, opportunities, and overall pipeline health.
  • Share customer feedback, market insights, recurring challenges, and potential process improvements with internal teams.
  • Align business development efforts with Odyssey’s overall brokerage revenue and growth objectives.
