About The Position

Business Development Professional Location: Denver, CO Job Summary Business Development – Colorado Front Range Bohannan Huston is currently seeking a full-time Business Development Professional to join our Denver-based office. This position leads business development efforts for Bohannan Huston in the Colorado Front Range, with primary responsibility for expanding the firm's presence and market share. The role is accountable for driving sustainable growth through informed market engagement, strategic relationship development, and disciplined pursuit leadership within the civil engineering and planning consulting environment. The individual will serve as a visible representative of Bohannan Huston and will work closely with technical and operational leaders to align growth efforts with the firm's capabilities and long-term objectives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in business development within the AE consulting industry, with a clear understanding of how firms compete, differentiate, and win work, preferably in the Colorado Front Range market.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the proven ability to build credibility with clients and internal technical teams and clearly articulate the firm's value.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships during active projects, collaborate with project teams, and leverage project delivery to support future business development.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate potential clients and projects that are well aligned with firm capabilities, strategic priorities, and long-term growth goals.
  • Strategic, organized, and self-directed, with sound judgment and follow-through.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Planning, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience within the AE consulting industry.
  • Some travel, including overnight and after-hour events, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies that support Bohannan Huston's growth objectives within the Colorado civil engineering and planning consulting market.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with public agencies, private sector clients, land developers, and strategic partners, with an emphasis on long-term client value and repeat work.
  • Actively identify and monitor prospective clients and upcoming projects that align with Bohannan Huston's service offerings, technical strengths, and risk profile. Develop strategies to position BH for future opportunities in coordination with technical and group leadership.
  • Engage with clients throughout the life of projects to support client satisfaction, identify follow-on opportunities, and strengthen Bohannan Huston's position as a trusted advisor.
  • Monitor market conditions, funding sources, and competitive dynamics to inform opportunity prioritization and pursuit planning.
  • Lead opportunity qualification and collaborate with firm leadership and technical group leaders on pursuit strategy and go/no-go decisions.
  • Partner with technical leaders and marketing staff to position the firm effectively, contribute to proposals and interviews, and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Maintain an organized and forward-looking business development pipeline and provide clear, actionable updates to leadership regarding opportunities and market trends.
