About The Position

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing and retaining existing customers by deepening relationships, identifying expansion opportunities, and driving targeted growth and program launch activities. This role also involves proactively pursuing and acquiring new strategic customers by promoting the value of our solutions and attacking new business in the assigned territory or segment. The manager will develop and manage a pipeline of potential customers through various methods including follow-ups, networking, prospecting, cold calling, customer referrals, self-generated leads, and community involvement. Direct management and growth of assigned accounts, including emerging and key accounts, will be a key focus, with an emphasis on targeted growth activities and program launch management. The role requires tracking program timelines, coordinating related events, and introducing/promoting new products and solutions through joint selling initiatives. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will provide sales-oriented technical consulting, introduce, support, develop, and optimize new and existing logistics systems, and collaborate with the Director of Sales to establish sales targets and performance metrics. Market intelligence gathering and competitive analysis are also crucial. Regular progress reports on business development and account activity are expected, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five+ years of outside sales, business development, or account management experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees of the organization, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate and percent.
  • Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Outlook.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Company-specific programs.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to travel up to 40%, with overnight travel required.

  • Provide regular progress reports on business development and account activity and outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
