About The Position

The Business Development Manager supports occupancy growth by building strong referral partnerships across the Missouri healthcare network. In this highly visible, field-based role, you will serve as the external ambassador for our communities—connecting with healthcare professionals, generating qualified leads, and strengthening our presence in a competitive senior living market.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in outside sales, healthcare marketing, or senior living required
  • Strong understanding of referral-based sales and relationship development
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and drive measurable results
  • Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • Experience with CRM systems; Yardi preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong referral relationships with hospitals, case managers, rehabilitation centers, physicians, home health agencies, hospice providers, and senior-focused professionals
  • Establish a consistent and professional presence within local healthcare and community networks
  • Represent American House at networking events, industry meetings, and community outreach opportunities
  • Meet weekly with Executive Director to report progress on metrics: Growth in referral volume and quality, Conversion rates (lead → tour → move-in), Expansion of active referral network, Consistent outreach activity and engagement, Overall contribution to occupancy growth
  • Generate qualified referrals that convert into tours and move-ins
  • Build and manage a consistent external sales pipeline
  • Track and monitor referral activity and conversion metrics using CRM systems (WelcomeHome preferred)
  • Execute a structured weekly outreach plan including in-person visits, calls, and events
  • Identify new referral sources and expand market reach
  • Enhance visibility of the community throughout the local market
  • Leverage regional trends, including seasonal population shifts (e.g., snowbird activity), to drive results
  • Build strong relationships with hospital discharge planners and care coordinators
  • Monitor local competitors and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Partner closely with internal sales teams to ensure seamless lead handoff and follow-up
  • Align on sales strategies, conversion goals, and occupancy targets
