About The Position

We are specifically looking for a BDM to work remotely but be located in Alberta. Punchcard is a digital transformation studio with teams, partners, and clients across Canada. At its core, digital transformation uses technology to create new or improve existing business processes and customer experiences. Our digital advisory and development services enable organizations to: Improve customer experiences across platforms, Increase productivity and efficiency of internal teams, Make better data-driven business decisions, and Increase overall competitiveness. At Punchcard, we’re in the process of inventing a new type of consulting agency, and so we need great people to come along this journey with us. Our clients come to us to help them solve interesting challenges using technology. We’re scaling our team and are looking for a Business Development Manager to support the operations of the organization. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this position will seek out new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers. To be successful in this role, you should have demonstrated experience successfully generating your own leads through targeted outbound prospecting (cold calling, email outreach, networking events, social selling) and meeting sales quotas. You will use your communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with customers, from first contact until you close the deal. You will also ensure proper after-sales service and handoff to the delivery team. If you are motivated and results-driven, and enjoy working in a team environment, we’d like to meet you. Requirements

  • 5+ years sales or business development experience
  • Post-secondary education in Digital Media and IT, Marketing, Business Communications or relevant field preferred
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including outbound communications and cold calls)
  • Track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales quotas
  • Demonstrable experience with CRM software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite of products
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics and CRM systems
  • Self-motivated, proactive, highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Ability to deliver clear, persuasive, engaging presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
  • High level of initiative, motivation, and enthusiasm

Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation & Prospecting: Proactively identify and generate new business opportunities through outbound sales activities (calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, in-person networking).
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective clients.
  • Conduct targeted research on potential clients within key industries (Construction, Manufacturing, Field Services, Financial Services, Retail, Education, Mid-Market IT).
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Generate and qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities.
  • Assist in production and presentation of webinars and community programming.
  • Client Engagement & Relationship Building: Clearly communicate Punchcard’s value proposition and service offerings (Digital Workplace & Custom App Development).
  • Conduct initial discovery calls to qualify opportunities and understand potential client business needs.
  • Build trust and rapport with prospects and establish long-term relationships.
  • Sales Process Management: Manage the full sales cycle, from initial contact to closing and handover to the delivery team.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and sales pitches.
  • Identify potential client needs and suggest appropriate products/sales.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms while ensuring profitability and alignment with Punchcard’s objectives.
  • CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate and updated records of all prospect interactions in CRM (Apollo/HubSpot).
  • Track and report regularly on pipeline metrics, lead conversion rates, and overall sales performance.
  • Participate in weekly pipeline review meetings and provide insights on market trends, objections, and opportunities.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with marketing, delivery teams, and leadership to ensure alignment in messaging, strategy, and client expectations.
  • Provide client feedback to marketing and delivery teams to refine service offerings and client experiences.
