The Role We have an immediate opportunity for a Business Development Coordinator who will thrive in our “one-firm” firm culture. You will be responsible for researching business development opportunities, supporting events, developing and managing client relationships, and helping support strategic planning and business strategy development, allowing you to make significant contributions to our firm’s success. As a proactive, authentic, curious, and empathetic individual, you will have the chance to work collaboratively with colleagues across our different practices, breaking down silos and embracing an outward-facing role. You will engage directly with clients, including Insurance professionals, Owners, Contractors, Architects, and Attorneys, making a significant impact in these interactions, with the goal of growing our firm's revenue. As a Business Development Coordinator, you will be instrumental in achieving our goal of increasing the DC office revenue by over 60% in the next five years by meeting and exceeding sales targets. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while helping shape the future of our firm.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of working experience in the AEC industry (architectural, engineering, and construction) preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in business management, marketing, or engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and participate in internal business development meeting agendas and action items.
  • Research, coordinate and manage Thornton Tomasetti representation at key client and sponsorship events.
  • Monitor procurement sites (e.g. municipalities, universities) and conduct research and monitor leads across all Thornton Tomasetti market sectors.
  • Track competitor activity by monitoring websites, collateral presentations, trade journals, industry awards, and design trends and report new business and prospect reports to management.
  • Oversee and develop Dynamics opportunity pipeline and accuracy of client records and contacts by working with administrative and technical staff.
  • Organize internal pursuit teaming, and assist in coordination with Marketing/Communications team to prepare proposal packages.
  • Track new markets, industry trends, and developments and coordinate with key team members to evaluate and engage with relevant industry stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with clients and consultants to share leads and pre-position Thornton Tomasetti for future opportunities by actively participating in client-facing industry, professional, and community organization events.
  • Support marketing and technical staff to develop a winning strategy and identify key differentiators including the development of client presentations.
  • Assist technical leaders to develop an annual business development plan for securing clients and projects.
  • Facilitate debriefs for project wins and losses.
  • Coordinate appropriate technical representation at client meetings.
