Business Development Manager - Food & Beverage Industry
About The Position
A Technical Sales Engineer / Sales Engineer / Business Development Manager is required for a national technical sales position supporting growth within the food and beverage manufacturing sector. This role is ideal for an experienced technical sales professional who understands industrial automation, manufacturing processes, and customer-focused solution selling. You will take ownership of strategic accounts, develop new business opportunities, and work with food and beverage producers, equipment manufacturers, and engineering partners to deliver automation and process improvement solutions.
Requirements
- Experience as a Technical Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer, Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, or similar technical sales professional
- 3-10 years of successful sales experience within process automation, industrial technology, or capital equipment environments
- Proven track record selling technical solutions to OEMs, manufacturers, and end users
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, automation systems, PLCs, industrial networks, IoT, and software integration
- Ability to translate complex technical solutions into clear business value for customers
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and account management skills
- Comfortable engaging with both technical teams and senior decision-makers
- Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow strategic customer accounts across the food and beverage manufacturing industry
- Identify, develop, and progress new business opportunities with manufacturers, OEMs, and engineering partners
- Build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including operators, engineers, technical teams, and senior leadership
- Conduct customer visits and technical discussions to identify process improvement opportunities
- Support customers with automation solutions for hygienic production environments, including process equipment and manufacturing systems
- Provide technical guidance around industrial automation, controls, networking, data integration, and digital manufacturing solutions
- Lead complex sales opportunities by coordinating with internal technical and commercial teams
- Develop account strategies, maintain sales pipelines, and achieve agreed sales objectives
