About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Business Development Manager with a strong hunter mentality to drive new business growth across Brazil and expand our presence throughout Latin America. This remote role requires a proactive sales professional who excels at identifying and pursuing new opportunities in academic, government, and healthcare sectors while championing Taylor & Francis Group's Open Research programs. You will be a strategic relationship builder with exceptional multilingual communication skills, capable of navigating diverse cultural landscapes across Latin America. Ideal candidates will have experience in open access, journals, and eBook sales within academic library markets, combined with a proven track record of aggressive new business development.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of demonstrated successful new business development and hunter-focused sales experience
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and converting prospects into customers
  • Strong understanding of academic publishing, Open Research landscape, and the wider book trade
  • Exceptional consultative and hunter sales skills with ability to identify opportunities and create demand
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budget management and revenue target achievement
  • Ability to analyze complex information and make data-driven decisions
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively, prioritizing high-value opportunities
  • Professional manner with ability to perform well under pressure
  • Results-oriented mindset focused on exceeding sales targets
  • Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English required with ability to conduct business negotiations and presentations in all three languages
  • All candidates must have right to reside and work in Brazil

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in open access, journals, and eBook sales within academic library markets (highly desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a 1-to-3-year sales and market penetration strategy for eBooks, Journals, and Open Access across Brazil and Latin America
  • Drive Open Research revenue through proactive engagement with key prospects and institutions
  • Achieve and exceed annual sales targets with primary focus on new business acquisition
  • Identify and pursue new customers and business development opportunities across the region
  • Conduct regular prospecting visits and sales calls to new and potential customers (50% travel expected)
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline to ensure continued growth and market expansion
  • Develop strong professional networks with key institutions, funders, and research centers
  • Engage with stakeholders at conferences and presentations to promote Taylor & Francis Group's position in the Open Research community
  • Build relationships with key decision makers across academic institutions, government agencies, and healthcare organizations
